MINI SERIES: The Pelvic Bowl

The pelvis is a ring of bone at the middle of your body. With the pelvic floor muscles, it creates a bowl at the bottom of the spine, holding the inner organs and centering the body’s movements.

In this class, we’ll have two areas to explore: first, moving the pelvis itself and feeling the effect on the body, and second, learning about the pelvic floor muscles and their place in our practice.

Appropriate for all levels.

Our hips are at the center of our structure. They provide stability as we move through the world in activities like walking, standing, squatting, and sitting. Over time, events in our lives such as an injury or surgery can create shifts to the muscles around the hip joint causing imbalances, tension and pain.

We will review hip anatomy before exploring yoga poses and exercises to stretch, strengthen and balance the hips.

Denise’s interest in hip anatomy and movement began prior to her hip replacement in January 2024. Through her healing journey she is continuing to expand her knowledge of the hip joint and related topics.

This class won’t be appropriate if you are dealing with an acute hip injury and significantly limited mobility.

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for workshops and other special events. You must cancel 24 hours prior to the event for a refund to your Mindbody Online account at Paxson Yoga Center.
