Zoom Workshops with Julie Gudmestad

OFFERING THE LIVE, IN-PERSON Anatomy Awareness in Asana week in the studio isn’t a possibility, because of the current public health situation. We are instead offering these 2-hour workshops to keep your interest in anatomy alive. These workshops are designed to help improve your poses, protect yourself from injury and deepen your practice. The online presentations will be recorded and will include a digital handout with illustrations of the highlighted anatomy.

THESE CLASSES ARE INTENDED for teachers, and practitioners with at least one year of asana experience. Teachers can receive Yoga Alliance CE credits for the classes.

HIP STRENGTHENING

$60 or all three for $150

Human hips are the connection between our legs and our torsos, and strong hip muscles help improve our balance and stability while standing, walking, and doing Yoga. In this class, we’ll look at the most important hip muscles, and then practice poses to build their strength and endurance.

Two CE credits are available with Yoga Alliance.
Props: Mat, 2 blocks, blanket, and a strap

**This course is appropriate for our Level 3 students and above, or anyone with at least a year of practice. It is not eligible for the New Student Discount.

HIP OPENING

Improving hip flexibility offers benefits both on and off the mat, not only allowing us to go deeper into Yoga poses, but also helping to relieve some stress and pain in the low back. After a brief study of commonly tight hip muscles, we’ll practice a series of hip stretches, establishing a good routine to add to your home practice.

Two CE credits are available with Yoga Alliance.

BUILDING ARM AND SHOULDER STRENGTH

Traditional Yoga practice includes many poses that bear weight on the arms. In this class, we’ll take a look at the anatomy of the most important upper body muscles. We’ll then practice a routine to gradually and progressively build strength. Our goal is the safe practice of poses like sun salutations and inversions.

Two CE credits are available with Yoga Alliance.
Props: Mat, 2 blocks, blanket, strap and a chair
