Continuing Education

Paxson Yoga Center/Gudmestad Yoga Tradition has been sharing yoga with the Portland community for over 30 years. Julie Gudmestad, Physical Therapist (retired), Certified Yoga Therapist, E-RYT 500, and founder of Gudmestad Yoga has dedicated her career to combining the practice of yoga with the knowledge and benefits of physical therapy. Paxson Yoga Center is carrying that mission forward with Julie and the skilled team of teachers she trained.

Our Continuing Education workshops are paired with Special Focus classes. If you are a teacher interested in Continuing Education credit, you may register for the 3-hour course, which includes a 1-hour Q&A session. Download the schedule here.

These Continuing Education classes will be taught in the hybrid system, in person and over Zoom. The 2-hour Special Focus workshops are recorded and students will have access to the recording for one month after the class occurs.

Fall and Fracture Prevention: Balance Poses

Saturday, March 18, 2023

12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Julie Gudmestad, PT (ret.), E-RYT 500, Certified Yoga Therapist

$90

Falls are common, especially as we get older, and can cause painful injuries and life-threatening fractures. Our yoga practice can help us prevent falls by building muscle strength and strengthening our balance reflexes. In this class, we’ll start with easy poses and progress to more challenging. By the end, you will have some balance-sharpening poses to add to your home practice, whatever your level of experience and ability.

The one-hour Q & A session follows the Special Focus after a short break.

Props: mat, strap, blanket, 1-2 blocks, and a chair
